Sessions

Restore, validate, and clear an SDK session.

The SDK keeps its session in memory. Persisting it is the application's responsibility.

import { AvanzaClient } from 'avanza-ts';

const client = new AvanzaClient({ session: restoredSession });
const valid = await client.auth.validateSession();

if (valid) {
  const accounts = await client.accounts.list();
}

client.clearSession();

You can also replace a session with client.setSession(session) or call client.auth.logout() to log out remotely and clear it locally. Authentication-required requests fail before making a network call when no session is available. TOTP sessions carry authentication headers; BankID sessions contain a serializable cookie snapshot.

Session duration

Avanza lets you choose how long you stay logged in—from 30 minutes to 24 hours—in your account's website settings. This applies to biometric, username/password, and BankID logins. See Avanza's session-duration instructions.

Separately, loginWithTotp() sends maxInactiveMinutes with its login request (30–1,440 minutes; default 1,440). See TOTP login for an example. The SDK has no equivalent setting for BankID login. Avanza determines when any session actually expires, so validate a restored session before using it. The 120-second BankID login attempt timeout is unrelated to session lifetime.
